Q: Why have I received a Parking Charge Notice?

A: A Parking Charge Notice is issued when a vehicle has breached the parking terms and conditions displayed on the signage at the site. Common reasons include overstaying the permitted time, parking without a valid permit, failing to pay for parking, or using bays reserved for certain users such as disabled or EV bays.

Q: How can I pay my parking charge notice?

A: Full details of how to pay can be found on the notice itself. Payments can be made online through our website in the ‘Pay a PCN’ section, by entering the parking charge number and vehicle registration. Motorists can also pay over the phone, by calling 0333 023 6055.

Q: What will happen if I ignore the Parking Charge Notice?

A: Ignoring a Parking Charge Notice will not make it go away. If left unpaid, the charge may increase and debt recovery action could be taken. We always encourage motorists to resolve the matter promptly to avoid additional costs or escalation.

Q: How can I appeal a Parking Charge Notice?

A: If you believe the charge has been issued incorrectly, you have the right to appeal. Full instructions are printed on your notice and on our website. Appeals can be submitted online or by post, and each case is reviewed fairly and carefully by our appeals team. If declined, you have the option to appeal through the Independent Appeals Service (IAS)

Q: How did NPC access my details?

A: As an Approved Operator, NPC is a member of the International Parking Community. This means that we are authorised to request the registered keeper’s details from the DVLA when a Parking Charge Notice is issued. We only use this information for the purpose of enforcing parking regulations and handling any related correspondence.

Q: I am a Blue Badge holder, why have I been issued a Parking Charge Notice?

A: While a Blue Badge allows parking on public highways, private car parks may have different rules. If a vehicle is parked in breach of the terms displayed on the site signage, a Parking Charge Notice can still be issued. We always encourage Blue Badge holders to check the signage and ensure their badge is correctly displayed to avoid charges.
